Operations Manager

Willmotts Transport is one of the largest independent warehousing and distribution companies in the South West, based just outside of Shepton Mallet.

Due to continued expansion, we are looking for an Operations Manager to join our friendly and dynamic team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizing and overseeing of the safe day to day operation of the business.

  • Responsibility for overseeing and managing the efficient operating of the Transport, Pallet Network departments.

  • Assist in the management of daily driver/vehicle allocation and all associated tasks to enable the efficient operating of vehicles.

  • Manage out based depot operations in line with company and legal requirements.

  • Controlling vehicle/driver fueling and parking invoice reconciliation.

  • Manage driver holidays and expenses.

  • Oversee and manage all agency driver usage and booking.

  • Manage department purchase order requirements and sign off.

  • Manage driver fleet requirements day to day, inclusive of investigation reporting working with the compliance department.

  • Assist in the implementation and management of customer requirements, day to day.

  • Working to build efficient links between the Transport, Pallet Network and Warehouse departments.

  • Understanding current ways of working and implementing new ways of operating efficiencies.

  • Understand and advise of ways to increase cost efficiencies and offer cost savings to the business.

  • Allow department heads to focus on specific requirements by assisting in day-to-day operational challenges.

  • Liaise directly with the sales team to understand new and current business opportunities and discuss best ways of operation ongoing. This may include customer meetings and off-site customer visits.

  • Liaise directly and control the compliance department for daily vehicle/trailer/driver updates.

  • Act as a key daily escalation point for drivers of all departments.

  • Sit on the Willmotts Transport operator’s license.

  • Oversee and manage driver recruitment and onboarding process alongside the HR department to ensure operational requirements are met.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Competent use of IT systems, incorporating all Microsoft programs

  • International CPC

  • Local Geographical knowledge

  • Exceptional communication skills both written & verbal

WORKING HOURS

Monday to Friday, core hours of 08:00 – 18:00 to include a 30-minute unpaid lunch break 47.5 hours p/week plus 1 in 3 Saturdays. Availability outside of the standard working hours as per the needs of the business including on call availability.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From £37,500.00 per year
